Thailand's Pot Policy Shift: A Closer Look


Thailand's journey with marijuana legislation has been a rollercoaster ride, with the latest twist promising a crackdown on recreational use while maintaining allowances for medicinal purposes. In a recent interview with Reuters, Health Minister Cholnan Srikaew unveiled the government's plan to ban the recreational use of marijuana by year-end, citing concerns over its negative impact on Thai youth.

Since becoming the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize medical marijuana in 2018, followed by recreational use in 2022, Thailand has witnessed a proliferation of marijuana shops.
